School Eve

Well...

I'm still not ready for summer to be over.  I like the freedom to do as we please and the little responsibility.  I like the time I have had to get some projects done or at least started.  I like sleeping in.

But the reality has set in.

We have packed the lunch, picked the clothes and set them out, packed the supplies and filled out the paperwork, summer books have been read and listed, we have discussed the difference between hot lunch and cold lunch.  She is as ready as she will be.

First grade starts tomorrow.

First grade is different because school goes all day.  You get to eat lunch in the cafeteria and have three recesses.  You have already had a taste of school, but you know that it will be longer, tougher, and (for lack of a better word) more real.

I asked Hannah if she was nervous or scared.

She said yes.

I asked if she was ready.

She said yes again.

We have hit yet another milestone.  In nine-and-a-half hours we will have a first grader.

I might need a tissue....and maybe a pair of dark glasses....
