Basketball Season 2014-Claire
This is Claire's first year doing basketball and I have to say we were all impressed with her "go get 'em" spirit. The girl runs fast, works hard, and plays aggressively!

Bulldog Spirit!
The girls (especially Hannah) LOVE going to the FSU football games! We all sport our Bulldog Red on game day.
I also got the girls these cute necklaces from a friend starting up a new necklace business (La-ti-Da Jewelry) that matched both the Fresno State colors as well as their school colors... and they happen to be patriotic ;-)

Swimming: Hannah's Second Year
If you read this blog at all last year, you would have seen we were gung-ho into swimming. That was again the case this year, but maybe a little less crazy on the photo taking and hoopla!
Hannah was so excited to get back in the pool and practice. She moved up to the 8 and under division, so she was able to learn the breaststroke and butterfly. She ended up being great at butterfly, and from the first to last meet improved her time considerably!
While we didn't end up making the trip to time trials and finals this year (those qualifing times are quick for the 8 year olds!) Hannah had a wonderful time swimming and just looks like a natural in the water.
My Mom and Dad joined us at a few meets to cheer on the girls. My Mom and I were both swimmers... the girls are carrying on the tradition!

Swimming: Claire's First Year
Swimming is a big activity in our house. It is very important to me that both girls are good swimmers and one way to do that is to be a part of the summer swim team!
We have chosen to be a part of the Sanger Seals swim club, mainly because they are so helpful in teaching 'almost swimmers' how to improve quickly. This was the case with Claire this year. Claire went from barely able to catch her breath once, to swimming across a 25 meter pool in a matter of weeks. Not only that, but she competed in both freestyle and backstroke!
No, she was not the fastest, but she was one of only a few four-year-olds on the team and has two more years in her age group to continue to improve.
So proud of you little lady! You have become quite the little fish this year!
Coach McKayla... saw so much potential in Claire and pushed her to be a swimmer this year. I am so thankful for influences like hers in my girl's lives.

Claire-ism #130: Drooling: a form of dribbling
Claire: "Dad, I figured out what drooling is. It's when you kick the ball and run after it."
John: "You mean dribbling?"
Claire: "Oh, yeah...dribbling!"
:-)
Claire has started soccer.

A Family Affair
The whole family made it out to cheer on Hannah this year for swimming!
My Mom was a swimmer, I was a swimmer, and now my girls are swimmers :-)

Strides
I know there have been a lot of swimming posts this year, and I have a few more coming. It has become such a big part of our daily activity this past month or two!
Hannah is making strides with her diving. She started the year by basically jumping in to start her races, and now she is at least getting stretched out a bit :-)
This might be a terrible visual because the photo was not zoomed in, but find the big white arrow to find Hannah.

Soccer Action!
Hannah's first soccer game was last weekend... the blue and black team did a FANTASTIC job! They scored the most goals and really seemed to understand which direction they were to go the whole game. Some of them were even playing defense, which is a rarity at this age. We definitely have some athletic talent on our team! Hannah has yet to score her first goal, but she played her heart out and was happy to be running around and being a part of the team. She did have a few break away plays where she had the control of the ball heading down the field, but the ball would end up going out of bounds.
The way the league is set up, the kiddos play three on three. I think this is so good for the kids! More playing time and more of a chance to get at the ball. Can you tell I am the full on soccer mom now, and proud of it?!!
