Easter 2011

Today was a good day.  Easter is really a fantastic holiday.  I had shared the story of the death and Resurrection of Christ with the girls several times over the past week and tried to emphasize why we celebrate Easter.  I didn't want to squash the idea of the bunny entirely, but I wanted to bring the focus where it belongs.

The girls woke up to yarn tied to their doors and then strung down the hall and around the living room and kitchen.  Their Easter baskets were on the other end.  ;-)  The each got a Barbie, a book, a movie, and some silly bandz...all a big hit!

[Hannah asked me later if I did the baskets or the Easter bunny did.  I asked her what she thought, and she told me she thought the Easter bunny did.  I am sure she knows, but I am willing to let her hold onto the fun for awhile longer if she wants to.
This is my new parenting tactic when I am not sure how to answer questions where the answers might not quite be age appropriate... ask her what she thinks.  The answers, thus far, have been pretty amusing.  Lets just say we have had more than one discussion regarding how ladybugs get married. ;-)]

We went to church and headed home for a fun little potluck brunch with some friends.  We wanted the kids to get together to do a little egg hunt, and they (of course) had a blast!  After cleaning up, we prepared to go to my parent's house for Easter dinner and one of my Mom's 'Egg Hunt Extravaganzas' <---- another post will be devoted to this!

We had dinner and some yummy bunny-shaped cupcakes ( <--- Oo!  This will be another post too!)  for dessert.  We even threw in a little batting practice for the girls before heading back home!  Full, fun day!

HE IS RISEN!!  Happy Easter!!
