Kiddo Updates: Claire

Claire: 2 years, 4 months

Claire is ALL personality! She is, as some might say, "full of it"! Constantly learning and changing...it is so hard to keep up.

Claire has been really into counting and practicing her ABC's lately. She can count to 16, then gives us this: "seven, eighteen, nineteen, twenty...TWO!" So, I am fairly certain she is close to REALY getting it. Her verbal skills are amazing, she puts together complex sentences and thoughts. Adding words like "actually" and "probibly" are common. The other day she tells me, (while putting on a button-up dress shirt) "Mom, this LOOKS like a jacket, but REALLY it is a shirt." Or, "Actually Mom, Hannah is having a bagel, not cereal." It is too cute to hear and see her little brain putting everything together.

She is enrolled at the Little Gym. She enjoys the class very much, but I am looking forward to enrolling her in a class with a little more structure. I think she will do very well with a dance or gymnastics class with real instruction. She enjoys watching her sister dance, so maybe we will be able to try that out come January.

She joined me to work in Hannah's preschool class a few weeks ago and did well joining in the classroom activities. I think she so badly wants to be a bigger kid, but I am content with her staying small and innocent for as long as possible. ;)

She is slightly above average in both height and weight. I don't have exact numbers right now, but she was around the 70th percentile in both height and weight back in June when we had her 2 year check-up.

She is becoming a much better listener, and less of a challenge to have out and about. She is still a two-year-old and is still good at being all that a two-year-old is, but she is willing to accept explainations and reason. This makes it much easier to deal with the fits or tantrums we had become accustom to. Isn't it nice to see all of the hard discipline work pay off?

She is starting to play well with others her age, which is nice. Mostly she plays "Mommy", which is just precious to see. Her rendition of Rock-a-bye-baby is fantastic! She is rarely without a baby under her arm. She and Hannah are also playing together very well. I am loving watching their relationship grow and develop.

Really Claire is just becoming such a pleasent kid to be around! I love you kiddo!
