In continuing with the big catch-up from all the summer activities, I need to mention how much the girls improved on their swimming skills!
Claire~
Claire had never had swimming lessons before this summer. She was comfortable getting in the water, but I was a bit apprehensive of how she would react at a lesson. To my great suprise the only time she cried was when she had a suprise substitute coach, and was caught off guard. She did a phenominal job otherwise! By the end of the summer, she would repeatidly get out, jump in off the side, and swim to the steps... over and over. At her last swimming lesson of the year, she could jump in the deep in and swim most of the length of the pool lifting her head for breaths. Getting to the point of raising her head to take a breath was the biggest challenge of the year. I am so proud of my swimming Claire-Bear!
Hannah~
Hannah continued her way into the world of independant swimming. She had a semi-private lesson with her friend Justus, and they both did a great job improving their skills. I can officially say she is a SWIMMER. Jumping in off the diving board, treading water in the deep end, swimming wherever she would like in the pool with no trouble at all. By the end of the summer, she was starting to work on her backstroke and freestyle. Swim team next year???
*Funny memory, Hannah HAD to have goggles on to swim. She wouldn't go near the water without them. The last few weeks of swimming lessons, the teacher had them take their goggles off to practice what would happen if they fell in the water. She was so proud of herself for going in the water without the help of her goggles. :)
