Well, time to update on project "lifestyle change" (as it is NOT a diet).
I am down well over 5% of my starting weight... which in and of itself is a pretty big milestone... I am aiming to hit that 10 lb. mark after this week. After three weeks, I am so happy to be feeling like I am in control of my food choices and portion sizes (most of the time). Looking back to that first week, I feel like I have come a long way in terms of just being comfortable with my day-too-day choices. At least that is the way I feel today :)
It is amazing how much our lives revolve around food. We socialize with food. We plan our lives around the next meal. So much of what I do involves what type of food I will be enjoying. I have had to start changing that train of thought to asking myself what food can do for me. Or, what can I do instead of sitting around and thinking about my next meal. It is not a matter of depravation, but really being content with one bite instead of the whole thing. A dessert is really a treat, not a necessity.
I am also very lucky to have the support of my family and friends... most of which are actually joining me! I see now how important it is to be on the same page with others in your house. John is counting points right along with me. We are even planning a whole OAMC cook day with healthy meals, knowing all the points values will be such a huge help at dinner!
Looking forward, there are definitely some huge milestones I am looking forward to reaching. My next goal is 10% down from my starting weight. Another personal goal is to start heading to the gym more and on a regular basis. I had a plan to get the eating less thing under control before I started working out a lot. I think I am at that point. So... here goes the next step.
So, things are on the up-and-up for the time being...
