My cousin, Carrie, posted this wonderful post on her blog about a visit with my Grandparents, Mardette and Al. They celebrated 65 years of marriage last month. Can you imagine that!?! Sixty-five years!!! That is an entire lifetime! We are in the process of getting some tickets to get back to Cincinnati and visit with them soon, hopefully at the end of September...
Carrie mentions in her post that my Grandparents have always held hands when they walked together anywhere. I would have to agree that this is one of my most fond memories of my Grandparents growing up as well. No matter what the world has brought them, they have walked the road together, holding hands. At my wedding my Grandparents were able to attend and were the 'last couple standing' in the marriage dance. (All married couples dance and those that have been married the longest 'win' and give advice for the newly married couple.) Then, when asked what their secret was, my Grandmother replied "patience" just as she did last week.
We do not live in a world of perfection, I know marriage is not always perfect. I know my Grandparent's marrige has not always been an easy or perfect ride, but I know that they are a testiment to what it is like to be married for a lifetime, growing together through prayer and patience.
Thank you for posting, Carrie!

Hey Whit!
Is that trip still in the works? I think Grandma would appreciate it now more ever.
All my love,
Carrie
