We have been meaning to get to Boise since, well I can't even remember when. John's Mom's family is all in Boise. We have been trying to make it up for years, but life has always seemed to get in the way. So, that was our main plan for this vacation... get to Boise. Next came the decision of whether to fly or drive. We opted to drive to save money on airfare and a rental car. Then came thinking of the 13+ hour car ride... with a three year old... and a one year old... Yikes! This brings me to the reason we are spending three days in Tahoe before heading to Boise, breaking up the drive. My family always spends a few weeks of the summer at our cabin in South Lake Tahoe. We spent Saturday through Tuesday in Tahoe, and will be back for another few days after our trip to Boise.
Sunday July 27:
One thing we usually try to do is get new 'tenni-runners' at the Adidas outlet in Tahoe. They usually have great sales, and this year they did not disappoint. John, Hannah, and I each got a pair of shoes, I got a pair of gym shorts, and John got a polo shirt all for $92.00!
We also took a walk around the shops at stateline (all new, they are making everything very tourist-y... this is good and bad), and took a few pictures.
Monday July 28:
Spent the morning in Carson City, NV (about 30 minutes from Tahoe) getting supplies for cabin projects.
Drove to Reagan Beach for a little sand castle making and playground playing!
And finally, we had pizza and beer at 'The Brewery'. This is something John and I look forward to each year. They brew their own beer, and the pizza dough is made using their beer... it really is delicious!
Tuesday July 29:
We did a little exploring of a new-to-us area of Tahoe, Blue Lakes (there are 3 of them) was 25 miles or so from Tahoe and was beautiful. We had been wanting to hike a little (okay so with kids it is more like walking), but were at about 8,000 feet elevation and opted to explore from the car. :)
