Whenever I fill out surveys or questionaire's I am given the option of employment. In the past there was mostly the option of 'unemployed', which most closely represented my employment situation. In the past few years though, I have noticed that there is almost always the option of 'home-maker'. So, as far as I can tell, home-making is now a viable and acceptable employment option.
And, with that being said and if that is what my job title must be, then I have to do real home-making things.
Laundry is one of those things.
Did I mention that I had to get a new washing machine? I did. I know, BIG news.
My old washing machine was top-loading, had an agitator, and was (apparently) archaic.
I walked into Lowes to find myself a new washer and learned that I am (apparently) attached to the archaic ways of laundry.
Seriously.
You want me to bend down to load my laundry into the front of the machine? What if I forget a kitchen towel and need to add it after the load has started... then what?
And then you want me to trust that the machine will automatically know how much water to use?
And then you want me to trust that the tiny amount of detergent you would like me to use is going to be enough?
And, why again do I have to use a special kind of detergent? I have lots of the other kind, are you sure I can't use that? .... Really, will it hurt anyone if I have too many suds?
I have learned that I don't care for change.
Especially when it comes to my daily routine.
On the positive side of all of this:
My laundry room doesn't smell like oil. (Which had been leaking from our old washing machine)
My clothes smell cleaner than they did with the old machine.
I am motivated to get the clothes out faster because, well, doing laundry is kind of intriguing now... hahaha...go figure...wonder how long that will last.
(and therefore)
More laundry is getting done.
So what it all boils down to is this. I am now joining the world of the front-loading laundry people...and I might need a few days to get used to it. :-)
