Books: The Hunger Games

I have spent the past few weeks engulfed in the world of 'The Hunger Games', a trylogy of books by Suzanne Collins.

Basically, it is set in a post-apocalyptic place once known as North America.  A young girl, Katness Everdeen, has volunteered to take her sister's place in a gladiator-esque ritual known as the Hunger Games. What is supposed to be a fight to the death, becomes so much more... a revolution.

This series was recommened to me by a few different friends.  It is an easy read, exciting and fast paced.  It is gruesome, sad, somewhat political, and futuristic...all qualities that I normally don't care for, however I did enjoy the story and would recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining read.

It looks like the story will be made into a movie by next year.

I think this successfully accomplishes my 'Read a book for fun' resolution... Although now I am kind of into reading so I might just have to add a few books to the list to read this year.
