I had been meaning to post about this during the late October posts, but needed these photos to illustrate the point ;)
Miss Claire's curiosity got the best of her one day and she gave herself a haircut. Thankfully, it wasn't all that bad if you just looked at her. She gave herself a pretty amazing side taper...a la 1983... and then somehow lifted the hair on both sides and managed to cut down very close to the scalp underneath.
Here we are at the salon, just before Nichole helped even it out a bit. She is demonstrating the taper. Notice that all the hair that is about ear-length has been freshly cut by Claire.
This isn't all that great of an example, but the wispy's by her ear are where she cut.
Here is a perfect example...right above the ear.
And here is the other side. It isn't really as bad, but you get the idea.
John and I were both home the morning she did this. We let the girls use scissors at their art table, and she had been using them by herself for a few months with no problems. She must have just gotten bored and started in.
Normally this type of stuff wouldn't bug me as much as it did. However we were heading into Halloween, family photo time, Christmas, etc. and I was just so urked that I had a lopsided child! Now, it is finally starting to grow back and I am sure it will all be fine by the summer. I am told that most kids do this at one time or another, but I would have loved for it to skip MY children :-)
