Christmas Baking

Baking.

One of the main reasons I LOVE the holidays.  Although this year was a bit different than previous years, I still wanted to try to get some baking in, and luckily I was able.  The past few years, a friend of mine and I set aside a day to bake and each make large batches of 4-5 yummy desserts  to give some out to friends, neighbors, and family.  This year, she was tending to a Husband fresh out of back surgery so it was something that had to be cut from the Christmas to-do list.

Also in years past we had made a variety of desserts, not just cookies, but this year I was going simple.  Hannah was at an all day Art Club, so it was a perfect opportunity to get Claire involved in a bake day.

We made good 'ole Chocolate Chip cookies, Molassas cookies, Chocolate Cake cookies, Thumbprint cookies, easy Paper Bag Toffee, and Muddy Buddies. Yum!

Unfortunately, time was running short and I wasn't able to get a platter out to everyone I wanted, but a few neighbors and people we saw over Christmas were able to enjoy to goodies.  My note to self here is to return to the previous year's plan of baking the week BEFORE Christmas and freezing the goodies for platters the week OF Christmas.

This is just one of the many traditions from my childhood that I want to continue with my kids.  Mmmmmm!
