October 30th fell on a Saturday this year. We didn't really have much planned, but a friend told us that Whole Foods passed out treats for kids that dressed up and came to their store. So, we got the girls dressed up into their costumes (again!) and took a few photos. Then we headed over to the store. It ended up being a bust, they passed out a few treats here and there, but really not much to get excited about.
We were heading down the freeway, and I suggested we stop at a pumpkin patch. We had only gotten a few small pumpkins, and I thought it might be fun to carve some larger ones. So, we stopped at a 'side of the road' pumpkin patch. It had a bunch of different activities and it looked interesting.
We were choosing pumpkins, and the girls asked to ride a pony. Normally, I don't really go for the pony rides, but it looked innocent enough. That was when they took the ponies out of the pens and gave the girls rides on them around the pumpkin patch. It was so funny! The owners were even encouraging John and I to get into the photos with the girls...hence the photo of us holding the horses reins.
In the meantime, I texted my sister to see if she and Brian would like to come carve pumpkins with us. They agreed and we ended the evening with a pumpkin carving marathon. I think this was the first time the girls carved pumpkins the correct way, meaning not coloring on them. :)
The top right photo is one of my faves... a jigsaw is totally needed to carve pumpkins...right??
And a caption to the bottom right photo is (from left to right): Brian's San Francisco logo, my Trick-or-Treat carving, Regan's (?) jack-o-lantern, Hannah's funny face, John's jack-o-lantern, and Brian/Regan's baseball player...whew!
Fun times, good memories... let's do it again next year!!
