It is a year of firsts for both of the Frank girls. Claire started a two-day-a-week preschool program last week. We had a parent and child meet and greet day, and she started today being dropped off!
Last week was slightly rough, she didn't really want to leave my side, but I think there were so many things going on in the classroom that day that she was overwhelmed. Today was a different story! After preping her all weekend for the 'drop off', she did a great job. After I picked her up she told me that she LOVES preschool! [Big sigh of relief from Mommy :-)]
I don't know exactly why, but preschool for Claire doesn't have the same nostalgic effect on me that Kindergarten did for Hannah. Maybe I am just a bit more comfortable because I know what to expect, but I am genuinely excited for Claire to start the program, make some new friends, and learn the structure of a school day. Plus, it is two days a week, and parents are encouraged to be involved.
What did I do while I had a few hours to myself this morning? I sat at Starbucks, by myself, with NOWHERE to be. It was so nice to have a little 'me' time without the pressure to get back to the kids ASAP. It is a very different thing for me to be unable to pick them up until a certain time. Usually, when working it is always a pressure to finish what I am doing quickly in order to relieve whoever is with the kiddos. Lets just say that I could get used to having a few hours to myself a few times a week!

She's adorable as always, but I particularly enjoy the purple nail polish:)
