Dance Recital: 2010

Hannah just [three weeks ago] completed her third year of dance!  This year she took a tap/ballet combo class and then a hip hop/jazz/tumbling class.  She and her friend Avery took these classes back to back and did a wonderful job.  I was concerned at first that it might be a little much, but she never complained even once about being tired or not wanting to go.  She loves dancing!!  I kept asking which class she liked better, but I don't think she ever landed on a clear winner.

I think dance has helped her be comfortable and confident in her own skin, which is so important.  I have always been slightly concerned that her long body would be sort-of awkward to get used to as she grows.  The girl is TALL.  But, I think that dance has really helped her be aware of how she moves.  I look forward to continuing to see her learn and improve.

As you would expect with two classes, she was in two dances in the recital.  The first was a hip-hop dance to the Chipmonk's version of 'Shake Your Groove Thing'.  Oh my!  This was a SHOW STOPPER!!!  The girls did great and had so much fun!

Her second show was a tap dance to 'The Charleston'.  It was a higher-level class, which was definitely more complicated than in years past.  Again, they did a great job and the dance was beautiful!

All in all,  I am so impressed with the studio she attends.  Her teacher is awesome, the classes are challenging but fun, and the recitals are entertaining with dance moves appropriate for each age group.  Looking forward to starting up again in the fall!!!
