The Making of a Fish

You know that thing that you always did when you were little? That activity that you just look back on so fondly and hope that your kids will feel the same. Swimming was one of those things for me. I have very vivid, and happy memories of spending summers on swim team, playing marco-polo with friends, practicing my dives (I was never a great diver), pretending to be The Little Mermaid, etc. etc. etc.

This summer has been a turning point for Hannah in the world of the underwater. She has become quite a fish! A stark contrast from last year, I must say. It is no longer a fear... it is more about fun. It is a great feeling knowing your child has conquered a fear, and realized there is fun involved.

Today at lessons Hannah jumped in the pool at the deep end, and swam 3/4 the length of the pool, doing freestyle, and took two breaths along the way to her teacher all by herself. I was so proud of her! The smile of accomplishment on her face was priceless!

By the way, I am plugging Jaimie's School of Fish here. I am very pleased with what I have seen in the past few years and am very impressed with Hannah's progress this year.
