For a bit of a background: we have a neighbor that has a number of dirtbikes. {Now, I am not a big fan of them, but to each his own...} You can imagine the frustration when, for days at a time, he decides 2:00 and 8:00pm are the best times to "work" on them. {"work" translates to reving them up in his garage and then driving them up and down the street popping wheelies and basically being obnoxiously loud.} Now what happens in a house with two young kiddos at around 2:00 and around 8:00? Yes, nap or bedtime, right?
So, understandably John and I have a few not-so-nice words to say under our breath whenever the neighbor decides the bikes need some "work". I am sure at one point or another the phrase "MEAN MAN" has come up in reference to him and what he is doing.
Fast forward a few months and Claire now thinks that any motorcycle/dirtbike is called a "mean man". Now of course we don't want her to think this or say this to anyone, especially not knowing the story behind it... so I have been trying to explain to her that they are not "mean man" but "motorcycles".
So, the other day we see a motorcycle in a parking lot. I asked Claire what it was. Her reply, "Mean Man Cycle". {sigh}
And any motorcycle we see driving is now met with a shriek "MEAN MAN CYCLE!!!!" {sigh again}
I think we have some more work to do... :)
